2018 – our year in a nutshell

The year is drawing to a close and here at Ferris Bühler Communications, we can look back on a very eventful 2018. Travels and parties there have been aplenty, that is for sure. But more than that, we have also realized ideas for our clients, told stories, produced content and always given our very best. We’ve picked a few of our highlights to share with you.

In 2018, we once again had the pleasure of tastefully serving up the dream destinations of our client Edelweiss to journalists on media trips. This year we traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Denver, San Diego, Las Vegas, Eilat, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Buenos Aires. And what’s more, we had the pleasure of organizing a gate event with country-specific show events and specialties before the respective maiden flights. Give us a slice of the traditional maiden flight cake and we are in seventh heaven.

Not only did we travel around the world with and for the leading Swiss holiday airline, we also worked behind the scenes for them in Switzerland. For instance, we launched a total of eight new aircraft with events at the airport. These planes were all named after tourist regions in Switzerland where the Edelweiss mountain flower grows. In each of these regions, an Edelweiss wooden bench in the form of an aircraft seat was inaugurated under our guidance.

Parties and fruitful collaboration

In fact, we’ve had plenty of reasons for celebration this year. Our client Hertz celebrated their 100th anniversary with a two-day employee event and a world record photo on the Jungfraujoch. We also organized 25th anniversary parties for Blumenhalle, as well as for Coop Naturaplan in various shopping centers in the Mittelland region.

We just love it when we can put clients in touch with each other. For example, we were able to send a lucky winner of a competition to an NHL game in Tampa, Florida, for our long-standing client Teleclub in collaboration with Edelweiss and Tampa Bay Regional Tourism. We also get a great sense of achievement when new projects develop from existing ones: we organized a top-class event in Zurich for Denver/Colorado Regional Tourism, and for Walt Disney World Resort we cast a Swiss family who was sent forth to test all the parks in Orlando.

The joy of new assignments and long-standing clients

We are naturally overjoyed when we acquire new clients. And in this spirit – welcome to the club, mb-microtec and traser! For Bernese, the innovative technology company with its own watch brand, we not only took care of all media work and copywriting, we also organized the opening event for the inauguration of their new production facility. Our fan base has furthermore continued to expand in Graubünden, where we had the pleasure of assisting the Upper Engadin mountain railways and Engadin St. Moritz in launching their new dynamic ticket model.

But it goes without saying that we take tremendous pride in our continued collaboration with long-standing clients with each passing year. For instance, we always look forward to the premiere of the latest production on the Walensee stage. And we have to admit that we always wait with bated breath for the latest figures and polls from C-Date, which we throw to the media for a “feeding frenzy” – all textually packaged to a tee.

Thank you!

From time to time, things happen that we never expected. For example, when we installed our “Safe Selfie Point” that we designed in-house for our client Corvatsch AG on the Lagalb, we never dreamed that it would cause so much media interest at home and abroad.

But even this is not the entire picture by far. So, what else did we do in 2018? We hosted a special show at the Züspa to look for interesting Zurich faces and we did the media work for various trade fairs such as SWISS-MOTO, muba and the Careers Fair; we provided media assistance for the Sihlcity Fashion Days and promoted an app for hiring retired people; working with Kenny’s Auto Center, we attempted to even out the gender pay gap; we also relaunched the legendary Club 8848 on the Lagalb – and so much more. What a year it’s been!

We thank all our clients and look forward to an exciting, eventful 2019 and all the many new stories it will bring!
